Hire Me
What I am looking for in a job…
At this point in my career I've been on both sides of the hiring process, and one thing that I've learned about finding the right candidate is that it's not enough to get somebody technically qualified to do the work, a candidate must want to do the job. For example: when looking for a front-end coder, lots of people will know how to program HTML, but precious few will enjoy arguing whether a tag is semantically correct for a given situation.
- Full Time Employment
-
My personal challenge in finding employment is getting a position that will engage the range of my skills. The simplest way to look at it is that I want to be asked to manipulate the DOM via JavaScript and also to push pixels in Photoshop.
I am looking for a working environment where there is an open collaboration between all roles. I am looking for a place where, when something goes wrong, people are faster to claim responsibility than to place blame.
I have few aspirations towards management, but when called upon will train and guide a front-end team to develop using web standards. My aspirations are more, shall we say, sideways. I enjoy problem solving between different parts of the team by communicating equally well with developers, designers, quality assurance, and project management.
- Freelance Projects
-
My technical skills keep me coding for a large portion of my daily work. When I take on a freelance project in my spare time I'm looking for something artistic and creative such as an author's website or a spa's menu. I am equally happy creating a website from scratch, or take an existing website that has grown out of your control, re-organize it, re-design it, and coding it so that search engines can find it.
One thing worth noting is that I do not have much time for "webmaster" type activities, like updating content on a regular basis. What I will do is configure a (free) publishing tool like WordPress, so that you can maintain your site yourself.
