Job Description

Advoy.com, Baxter Healthcare’s confidential healthcare website that facilitates interactive communication between patients and their care providers, needs a cutting edge front-end coder for a contract position. This person will help us with the interface for the latest release of a web application coded in XHTML with a CSS-based layout and utilizing significant JavaScript functionality. The successful candidate will have worked on web applications using the latest web standards.

The responsibilities of this position include:

• Working with the technology team to integrate front-end code with server-side technology components.
• Learning how to use AvantGo’s JavaScript API to create the client-side of a new release for the mobile version of the application.

Job Requirements

Skills/Knowledge:

• Expert understanding of XHTML 1.0 specifications.
• Expert understanding of using CSS 1, 2 as a design tool.
• Expert understanding of the DOM and its levels of browser support.
• Expert understanding of JavaScript and the ability to develop functions from scratch.
• Experience developing W3C standards-based web sites.
• Knowledge of web accessibility issues and coding practices.
• Knowledge of usability practices and principles.
• Code samples and links to customer sites and/or portfolio required.

Attitude:

• An obsession for clean, validated, standards-based and maintainable code.
• Extremely detail-oriented.
• Meets commitments in a quality-oriented, results-focused manner.
• The ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing.

Experience:

• 4+ years of experience with presentation layer technologies, including hand-coding XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Helpful: Experience implementing presentation layer integration with middle-tier technologies via JSP.
• Helpful: Experience building applications for handheld devices.

Education:

• BA or equivalent industry experience.
